Doggy Exercise

Doggy exercise

One fun way to exercise with your dog is to play tug of war. Offer one end to your canine companion and hold tight! Be careful if you have a big dog, they can pull you over.

A second fun way to exercise your pooch is to create a mini Crufts obstacle course in your garden or house. Use every day objects like laundry baskets, sofa cushions and chairs to create the ultimate challenge.

Finaly when you are out in the park you can play fetch. Be carful to use good quality balls because cheap ones can break. Balls from cheap shops often break in five minutes.

Caring For Your Dog

Dogs love care and attention. Here are some ways you can ensure your furry friend is always cheerful and healthy.

Dogs enjoy a range of food but, more importantly, it has to be given regularly given so they know when to expect it. Wilbur particularly enjoys Giant Canin, a dried food that can be stored for a long time. He also enjoys occasional treats though. These include pigs' ears, freshly cooked chicken (without seasoning, garlic can kill a dog) and dog biscuits.
Dogs need plenty of exercise, though this varies by breed so check a range of sources for further information. Wilbur doesn't much like exercise but we aim to take him for a walk at least every other day. Usually these walks last a minimum of twenty minutes.

Like every dog, Wilbur sometimes gets ill. If this happens we always take him to the vet. However, be careful with your own dog in this situation as they often don't want to go and may even become aggressive. One way we help Wilbur stay calm is to take him for a walk first and reward him with a treat before and after his visit.

Dogs are social animals and enjoy interactions with people they are used to. This can include stroking them, patting them and belly rubs. Wilbur really loves the last one! If your dog becomes stressed around new people make sure you are there to reassure them both with your voice and touch.

A Song About My Dog Wilbur

Just before Christmas I started work on the song by doing the chords and first verse.

I found it really hard at first and then it got easier as i went on. It is about my dog Wilbur and the things he does. It is performed in a country style and it also has barks sampled from my canine. Plus there are drums and bass created on Garageband. I think that kids will love this song, especially if they have a pet.
